THE PROCESS & RECOMMENDATIONS
At our December 8, 2024 Member Meeting, Pastor Russell Howard shared with the congregation two new recommendations that the Elder Body is making. The first is for Ryan Flint to serve in the role of Elder in our church. Ryan is currently our Minister of Music, and if our congregation votes to affirm him as an Elder, those Worship Ministry responsibilities will not change, but the responsibilities of an Elder will be added. The office of Elder is a crucial leadership role here at our church. Over the past few months, the existing Elders have been in conversations with Ryan to determine his desire to serve as an Elder here in line with 1 Timothy 3:1. Should the congregation vote to affirm him, Ryan will be charged with the same responsibilities that all our Elders have in overseeing the spiritual health of our church and leading as a shepherd and pastor of this flock.
The second recommendation shared at our most recent Member Meeting is about Peter Finch changing roles on our staff to fill the newly created position of Pastor of Administration. The job description of this new position was affirmed by our congregation back in May of 2024, and it was included in the 2025 Budget, which the congregation recently approved. Peter, who is already an Elder, would be added to our Ministerial Staff. In this new role, he would be responsible for the oversight of the Office Staff, IT, Accounting, HR, Operations, Food Service, and Campus and Event Design.
Both of these men have been in ongoing prayerful conversations with the other Elders, and in addition, Peter has been interviewed and affirmed by the Personnel Committee for his possible new role. The congregation will make the final decision on both of these recommendations in a vote at our next Member Meeting on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at 5:00 PM in the Worship Center.
THE PROCESS
This process has been marked by much prayer and careful consideration, as the Elder Body is recommending these men to serve our church, one as an Elder, and the other in a new ministerial staff role.
Now the congregation is charged to weigh in and make the final decision on the Elders’ recommendation at our next Member Meeting on Sunday night, January 12, 2025. It is important to remember as you consider these men, that your current Elders want to know of any concerns or questions that you might have about either of these men prior to the vote at the January Member Meeting. May we pray together and discover God’s will for these men and our church.
PROSPECTIVE ELDER CANDIDATE
Ryan and his wife Katie have been married for 13 years. They have four children: Collins is 10 years old, Madden is 8 years old, Beckett is 4 years old, and Rowan is 1 year old. Ryan grew up here at McGregor and was reared in a Christian family, and God saved him when he was 6 years old. It was during a mission trip with our Student Ministry that Ryan surrendered his life to full–time ministry. Ryan’s calling gave him opportunities to serve at churches in New York, Illinois and Tennessee before coming on staff at McGregor as the Minister of Music in 2019. Ryan has been in full–time vocational ministry for 14 years as the Lord has continually placed him in roles that are focused on leading the church in worship. Ryan is excited about the possibility of serving the Lord and this church body as an Elder.
PROSPECTIVE PASOTR OF ADMINISTRATION CANDIDATE
Peter and his wife Yuri have been married for 17 years and have two children: Jordania is 10 years old, and Matthew is 8 years old. Peter grew up as a missionary child in the Philippines, where he understood the Gospel message and accepted Christ as his Savior at a young age. He studied at the Word of Life Bible Institute in Argentina, then finished his studies at Liberty University, earning a Master of Arts in Religion and a Master of Divinity in Global Studies. He is currently working on his doctorate through Columbia International University. Peter has been blessed to serve this church as the Spanish Ministry leader since 2008 and as an Elder since 2020. In addition, he has worked for McGregor Baptist Church for over 16 years, serving in Grounds Maintenance, as the Custodian Supervisor and Operations Assistant, and currently as the Director of Operations. Peter is excited about the possibility of serving the Lord and this church body in a new staff role.
THE DAYS AHEAD
If you are a McGregor Member or Associate Member, we ask you to do three things as we draw nearer to our next Member Meeting:
Use this guide to prayerfully consider how God would have you vote for each of these men at our next Member Meeting on Sunday evening, January 12, 2025 at 5:00 PM.
These men are very involved and known in our church. If you do not know them personally or have questions for them, we have a scheduled Meet and Greet opportunity on Sunday, January 12 at 4:00 PM inside the Worship Center foyer before the Member Meeting so that you might be able to vote in an informed manner.
Come to one of our current Elders if you know of any concern that might disqualify any of these men from consideration for the office that they are being recommended for.
If you have any specific questions for any of these men or our current Elder Body, feel free to email them at: .
