The McGregor Fine Arts Academy functions as an atmosphere for individuals to experience, learn, cultivate, and express the creativity given to them by the Creator, God. Providing training in the arts, is our avenue to draw our church and community to Christ; and, to equip future worshipers already in relationship with Christ. The Fine Arts Academy functions under the umbrella of the Worship Ministry of McGregor Baptist Church and serves by:
STUDENTS — We encompass a variety of students of all skill levels and ages. Students under five years of age accepted on a case by case basis with instructor availability and approval.
INSTRUCTORS — Each of our instructors are qualified, and backed by experience and education, to teach/train in their areas of expertise.
We offer private, weekly lessons in piano, voice, strings, trumpet, and guitar. Students may take a 30-minute, 45-minute, or 60-minute lesson each week. We also offer a 4-week, 30-minute trial session for $110 (trial sessions only apply to 30-minute lessons).
Fall and Spring Semesters are 12 weeks. Summer semesters are subject to instructor availability and are 4 or 6 weeks, only.
All lessons are held on the McGregor Baptist Church campus.
We offer one recital annually, which is held at the end of the Spring semester.

Terri received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Bible and Missions (extended studies in music) from The Free Will Baptist Bible College, now known as The Welch College, in Nashville, TN, in 1985. Terri has been a student of the arts and music since childhood. In high school in Norfolk, VA she had the privilege to dance on stage a well as exhibit some of her artwork locally. Throughout high school and college years, she was integrally involved in drama and vocal music. Along with her major course of studies, Terri studied drama, speech, and choral conducting. She was a member of one of the school’s choirs throughout her college career and traveled with the college drama team during her junior year. Terri has sung with church choirs, ensembles, praise teams, trios, duets, and solos. While serving as a lay missionary in St. Croix Virgin Islands, she directed the church’s youth and adult choirs as well as drama and student choirs as their Christian school’s Performing Arts teacher.
Terri has been a member of the Florida Baptist Worship Choir, where she has been invited to sing with the praise team. Terri is currently an active church worship choir and ensemble member at McGregor Baptist Church. She has sung and danced in all of the Southwest Florida Christmas Pageants since she joined the church in 2000.
Terri is currently Administrative Assistant to Ryan Flint, Worship Minister here at McGregor Baptist Church, and loves her duties which encompass handling administrative duties for the church’s Worship and Technical Arts Ministries, as well as Administrator for the McGregor Fine Arts Academy. Terri enjoys all of her responsibilities and considers herself privileged, honored, and humbled to work at something that offers her the opportunity to share the Gospel message of our Creator, God through the avenue of the creative arts.

Teaches: Piano – all styles and levels, Band Instruments: Drums, Woodwinds and Brass – Beginning to Intermediate levels
Chris received a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Toccoa Falls College, Northeast Georgia in 1991. Right after college, Chris began teaching privately and became a Licensed Kindermusik Educator with Kindermusik International. Chris has taught at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theater here in Ft. Myers, as well as playing keyboard for the Cape Coral Cultural Theater’s production of “Grease.” Several of her previous students have entered the Bach Ensemble Competition and one currently teaches music. Having been surrounded by music from a young age, Chris began piano lessons at age 7 and began playing in the school band at age 9. She went on to learn hymns and gospel-style music during middle school and has been playing in church services since age 12. Along the way she learned classical music styles with a strong bent towards Mozart. Attending high school at ECS, she began accompanying voice lessons and playing for the school’s choir and touring as an ensemble pianist for 2 summers.
Chris was a full-time pianist at Christ Community Church, for 20 years and is a vibrant orchestra member here at McGregor and can be seen on the Worship Center stage playing the Synth Keys (String Reductions). Chris would consider herself a huge Disney fan who adores her Yorkiepoo, Pip. Chris loves music and is so thankful to do what she loves each and every day.
Teaches: strings – Violin all levels, Beginning Viola and Cello, and Beginning to Intermediate piano
Jackie has been with the Academy from its beginning, and we are so blessed to have her as a part of our Fine Arts family. Jackie not only studied at the University of the Philippines but also with world-renowned violinists. She has over 20 years of experience teaching strings and piano and currently teaches these disciplines privately here at the MBC Fine Arts Academy and throughout the city. Jackie has performed with several Symphony Orchestras in the Fort Myers area out of state. She has played with the McGregor Worship Orchestra and enjoys sharing her talent with all who will listen. Jackie has mastered the skill of training young students and has encouraged them to bring out the very best they have to offer.
Teaches: Band Instruments, Brass (All Levels)
Mr. Jurgenson currently teaches high school band at Southwest Florida Christian Academy, our Christian school. Though he teaches all beginning band instruments his “sweet spot” is with low brass. Over the past years at SFCA, Mr. Jurgenson has been a huge boon to our school’s marching band and has raised the bar of creativity to a level that challenges our students enough to evoke their best without pushing so hard to bring about defeat. This style and spirit of teaching embodies what the MBC Fine Arts Academy strives to accomplish in every discipline.
Teaches: Photography
Your Instructor, Christian Miller, is a native Floridian who crafts compelling visual narratives through videography and photography. He brings a Bachelor’s Degree from Full Sail University and years of experience, expertise, and passion. He has served as a photojournalist on NBC2, and ABC7, and currently serves as the Digital Media Producer here at McGregor Baptist Church.

As previously stated, each semester requires a $10 registration fee. For additional tuition options, please refer to the parent/student handbook. Please note that our scholarships are not offered for 4-week trial or summer session classes.
